Lori D'Angelo March 2024
The light tonight is purple,
the weather cold, the cats
push their way out anyway.
I have wondered, at times,
what they do in darkness,
besides decimate the local
rodent population. I read
once that cats domesticated
themselves. I wonder if they
ever regret it, or if, as with us,
they prefer having food fed in
bowls and hunting for sport,
rather than need. My gray cat
likes lounging on pillows, my
orange cat likes bathing in sun.
Both enjoy the patio cushions,
curling up, and when they want
to, they bless us with their light.
